Double fracture fumer in a car accident in Dec 2015 causing a trauma. After 24 hrs Intramedullary Nail was installed. Stayed with minimal movement for 5 month then started walking with one stick. Today after 7 months a new xray shows that the fracture is still not healed. Dr recommends bone graft and / or install a plate with nails. I need to know what s best to be done for the case

It depends on size of the defect and instability but if there is a hole in femur where no bone is healed, then bone transplant form pelvis should be considered or repeated osteosynthesis with plates and screws this time, and rmoving intramedullary nail.
I hope I have answered you query. If you have any further questions you can contact us in every time. Kindly regards. Wish you a good health. DR. Ivan Rommstein
