my daughter has the flu and is taking tamiflu. she blew her nose too hard, and her ear popped, and she now has a painful ear ache. A hair dryer relieved it slightly for a little while. I gave her 600mg motrin, psuedefed and a warm comp. At onset her pain was a 7 and is now about a 3 and she is starting to rest again. Were my actions ok, and what more can I do? Should I take her into E.R. Thanks, David Brazil
You have already treated her properly. Please continue the same. Add on Decongestant nasal drops. Not to blow nose at all. Do not use any ear drops. Consult a Doctor, preferably an ENT Surgeon for clinical examination, ENT Endoscopy and add on prescription based medicines like an antibiotic, oral steroid for early and better recovery. It takes about 3 weeks for complete recovery in such a case hence to continue medicines under the guidance of an ENT Surgeon till it is declared to have complete resolution.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
