Suggest Treatment For Elevated WBC Count In A Blood Test Apart From Bumps On The Forehead

I received a blood test showing elevated White Blood Cell count of 13.9. I had bumped my head four hours before the blood draw, resulting in a bump on my forehead and pain there that has lasted 5 days since then. Could this have elevated my WBC count?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Besides infections, stressors like surgery, exercise, trauma and emotional stress can result into a raised level of white blood cells in the body. However, this raised level of WBC, will come to normal after some time, this situation is resolved. Therefore, if there is no other serious symptom due to this bump except presence of pain, increased count of WBC should be taken as a normal reaction of body to the presence of trauma.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
