Suggest Treatment For Elevated Cholesterol Levels And High Blood Pressure
My cholestrol is 212 and LDL 139 I am 5'7 at 205.2 weight I have never had any problems I have put on some weight sinve I got married I am 48, my father has heart disease and high blood pressure runs in the family, my blood pressure last week at the dr. was 138/88
Hello. Thank you for your question. I understand your concerns, but at this point, I would recommend some changes, not therapy. My opinion is that you should have a 24-hour blood pressure monitor, which would let me be clearer whether it is hypertension or not. Second, regarding your age, some diet and lifestyle changes would be appropriate, before starting drug treatment for your high cholesterol levels. I recommend a diet with low salt, high fibre (green vegetables and fruit) and a 60 minute physical activity per day, e.g. walking, visiting the gym, swimming pool etc. You should measure your cholesterol levels three months later.
