Suggest Treatment For Enlarged Circumvallate Papillae After Throat Surgery
I had throat surgery in April (UPPP) to remove my uvula, tonsils and trim my soft palate. After my surgery I had enlarged circumvallate papillae on and off. They have now stayed enlarged for about 2 months now. Is there anyway to get them back to normal. It is very uncomfortable and it causes me to snore excessively.
Enlarged circumvallate papillae can occur due to a number of causes like throat infection, acid reflux, oral infections, dry mouth, allergies etc.. The treatment of the same can be done once the cause is ruled out and treated.. You should consult your treating physician and get evaluated and ruling out the cause of inflammation will help in resolution.. You can gargle with 1:1 solution of milk of magnesia and benadryl. You can do warm saline gargles. Take anti-inflammatory painkiller like Ibuprofen.. Avoid spicy and very hot foods.. You should also get evaluated for allergies, for infection at the surgical sites.
Hope this helps..
Regards.
