Suggest Treatment For Enlarged Tender Xiphoid Process?

I have an enlarged, tender xiphoid process. It is only painful and bothersome after I have gently touched it to see if it s still there. I have not had any known trauma to that area. I am a 43 year old male, 6 1 , 230lbs. My only other medical issues are high blood pressure, which has been easily controlled with medication for the last 10 years. I do take a 20mg cialis once a week. Any ideas on what caused this, what is means, and how serious is this?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
I have read your query & understand your concern.
Xiphoid process is lowermost cartilegenous part of sternum ( the chest bone).
The enlarged/tender xephoid in your case can be-
- boney weakness ( osteoporosis) leading to swelling/pain of the part on exertion (Weight lifting, physical stress)/ trauma. This needs treatment by orthopedic doctor after physical examination/investigations like serum electrolytes( calcium, sodium, potassium),vitamin D levels.Usually injection vitamin D,calcium & Inj. of anabolic steroids ( Decadurabolin) are given to such patient.
-Some heart problem give rise to this type of problems,so,it's better to get a cardiac check up( considering your blood pressure)
Thanks.
