Suggest Treatment For Epilepsy In A Child

Hi i have a three year old baby boy that has Epilepsy that had a seizure and just started puking about a hour ago and i can t get him to stay awake or eat any food.He wakes up and passes straight out in two seconds wondering if you have any suggestions?

Hi,

Few points missing like whether on any regular drugs for epilepsy, and associated with fever. Anyhow will give you some leads. Just keep him lying on one side, clear mouth and nose of secretions if any. Up to 5 minutes we can wait. If seizure not controlled by then, need administration of anti-epileptics (I used to give midazolam nasal spray for emergency use in such cases).

It is quite common for children to have some sleepiness and drowsiness for about 30-60 minutes after a seizure, called post-ictal drowsiness. Nothing to worry about this, and don't try to feed during this period. Just let him sleep and wake up after sometime. If seizure is not aborted in 5 minutes or is not waking up after about one hour. Kindly take him to ER.
