Suggest Treatment For Epilespy

hello, good day to you My younger brother is facing epilepsy since last 8years. He is on continuous medication (Valprolic acid-500mg) daily one tablet. But recently when he skipped 2 dose of medicine, he faced an attack. Based on advertisement we visited Niraj clinic of Dr. R.K. Gupta, and consult the doctor. They asked us to consume our above mentioned drug, and start their special drugs. We took 3 month medicine and start consuming that drugs and stop using valprolic drugs. Recently i came to know about niraj clinic, that drugs they prescribed are banned in India, and govt. has taken some action against him in past.
we are now worried about any side effects of that fake drugs. Again we started consuming valprolic tablets. Does this creates any health problem?

first of all u should be careful in future especially about such spurious drugs.....most of the time they are harmful..
anyway now continue valproate...adjust dose according to his weight..monitor SGOT SGOT.
Get detail evaluation of epilepsy done in the form of MRI brain 3 T and EEG. Long term prognosis depends on type of epilepsy and etiology.

Neurologist, Surgical Dr. Bruno Mascarenhas's  Response

Hi,

I am Dr.Bruno. I have read your question with care and understand your concerns about having taken a banned drug. Since you have stopped those drugs, let us hope that they have not produced any big side effects. I am glad that you found it earlier and stopped at within few weeks

If you are still worried about any residual effects, I would suggest you to visit your family doctor and get lab investigations done. This will give you total confidence.

Hope you found the answer helpful.

If you need any clarification / have doubts / have additional questions / have follow up questions, then please do not hesitate in asking again. I will be happy to answer your questions.

Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care.
