Suggest Treatment For Fever In A Child

Yes, we have a 30 month old daugher that was given a Rx of anitiboitic after running a fever for a few days. She had no other symptoms so we controlled temp thinking maybe she was cutting teeth. Yesterday we took her to her Doctor and the Dr. found she had a small cut on the back of her head and was sore to touch. Dr. said she probably bumped her head on a table or fell and hit her head on something the day before she started with elevated temp. Now her temp is 96.8. Is this normal or does she need to be seen again immediately. We ve been give her the antibiotic and motrin/tylenol to lower fever.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

It is possible that the cut itself or a minor infection of the same caused her to spike a temperature. Now that her temperature is normal, I wouldn't worry about it.
- Keep checking her temperature three times a day
- Monitor her activity and eating habits
- Definitely go to the doctor if she appears drowsy or starts having a high temperature

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Pranav Balakrishnan, General & Family Physician
