Suggest Treatment For Fluid Leaking From Leg/knee After Knee Replacement Surgery
mother in law had knee replacement surgery. She has had problems with swelling in the leg/knee area. She was dismissed from hospital today and now has clear fluid leaking from her forearm. Is this related to the swelling and the body trying to release all of the built up fluid? She is on 2 diuretics.
As she has undergone knee replacement surgery, post-discharge there needs to be measured taken for having medicine which is described to avoid infection and pain. Due to infection, there may be chances of having fluid discharge and antibiotics are advised. Diuretics may have been given to avoid swelling and that is common.
If her vitals are stable then there is nothing to worry. You can start the simple exercises like knee range of motion exercises, static Quadriceps, static hamstring, ankle toe movements, straight leg raise to help muscle activate and regain the muscle property.
Post the removal of the stitches exercise which is focused on strengthening the muscles will be good.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
