General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

If your sister is developing fluid repeatedly after it is being drained, ask your doctor about the option of placing a permanent catheter in the lungs or fusing the pleura together. These two options will prevent fluid from collecting and causing breathlessness.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Pranav Balakrishnan, General & Family Physician
