Hello... I am dealing with gall stone complication of a single stone of 20 mm size.. .. My dr said i should have the gall stone removed, but i previously had hepatitis C ( the reports are negative now) so i dont feel like i should disturb my liver. Is a stone a this size capable of blocking the bile duct? Is there anyway i can remove it withh out surgery? I dnt have gall stone attack that frequently so i want to know please. Regards Kira
Hi and welcome to Healthcaremagic. Thank you for your query. I am Dr. Rommstein, I understand your concerns and I will try to help you as much as I can.
Surgery is definitely recommended since it may just be larger and cause more symptoms. It may cause acute cholecystitis and may break and block main bile duct. Surgery is today a routine and can be done laparoscopically so you should not worry.
I hope I have answered you query. If you have any further questions you can contact us in every time. Kindly regards. Wish you a good health. DR. Ivan Rommstein
