Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am having abdominal pain for the past 4 days. I went to see a doctor on the first day and was diagnosed with stomach flu, but 2 days later I went back and this time round they told me it was gastritis. Are the symptoms the same? And why can't the pain go away after so many days. It's affecting my sleep at night.
Pain in abdomen for 4 days can be due to gastritis, gastroenteritis, flue , acidity related problems and since you have not given the complete history it is difficult to say what sort of a problem you have.
Consult a general Surgeon or go to ER for clinical evaluation, actual proper examination and investigations of Upper GI Endoscopy, ultrasonography of abdomen, x-ray of abdomen, tests of stool, blood and urine to get a probable cause so that a specific treatment can be done.
If you have been told this to be gastritis, start taking a PPI like Omeprazole, antacids and antispasmodic to tide over the crisis. Take soft and bland diet and avoid stress and anxiety.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. T Chandrakant
