Hi,

Grave's disease will make 2 of your hormones, T3 and T4 low. TSH will be above the normal range in Grave's disease as T3 and T4 are low and more TSH is secreted from pituitary gland to stimulate the thyroid gland to make more of T3 and T4. If your T3, T4 and TSH are within normal limits (refer to the reference range given in lab report) with medications then there is nothing to worry.

Ideally TSH should also be in normal limits however if T3 and T4 are normal and TSH is slightly higher than reference range (as appears in your report above) then there is no need to worry. You can continue the same medication. The dose of thyroxine needs to be titrated according to the T3 and T4 levels. Only when T3 and T4 are above normal range, you can reduce the dose of thyroxine under consultation with your treating doctor.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Anoop Kumar, General & Family Physician
