Suggest Treatment For Gut Parasite Causing Sore Stomach Before Defecation

Hi, my son (aged 4) has unusual stools. They are rarely formed. Often they are fluffy in appearance of broken up with lots of undigested food. They are often pale yellow or grey in colour. His stools have never really been normal . Our GP tested him for infections and he tested positive for a gut parasite. We tried on several occasions to treat it with Flagyl Suspension. It worked for a few days but then would return to their unformed state. He often complains of a sore tummy before needing to poo. I am wondering if it s a food intolerance...? Appreciate any insights.

As you yourself mentioned that you tried a treatment for parasites with flagyl i.e. metronidazole , got some relief and symptoms recurs.
Since your son is having parasites or worms and this is very common due to many reasons . When such case visit to me in my clinic I advise my patient to take a syrup containing " ALBENDAZOLE+ IVERMECTINE" ( albendazole 7-8 mg / kg body weight , while ivermectine 0.25 mg / kg body ) once / month for 4 months and all worms will eradicate .
Metronidazole is a good drug but this is for amoebic colitis ( E. hystolica).
Hope this will help you , so take a prescription.
In my opinion this is not a food allergy as you mentioned in query the consistency of stool is correct .
