Suggest Treatment For Head Injury

I fell off the second rung of a ladder. My hip and shoulder hit the floor and my head hit a step stool. The step stool gave way, folded, and fell. I do have a bit of a headache and a knot on the back fo my head. I'm thinking I should just watch for symptoms (vomiting, blurred vision, etc.). Is this correct.

Hello. Thanks for asking from HCM.

I can understand your concern. It is good that you have knowledge about dangerous signs of head injury. You should watch for these signs also
: bleeding through nose/ear/throat
: loss of consciousness/decreasing consciousness
: fits
: onset of new focal deficit
: persistent headache not relieving with medication
If any of above signs appear, you must consult ER. You might be advised CT scan of head to rule out bleed or fracture.

If no above signs, you can follow few tips to get relief
: Apply icepacks to decrease swelling
: You can take painkiller like Diclofenac sodium for pain relief and to decrease edema
: Keep your head at higher level than chest
: Avoid medication which can cause sedation
Hope it will help you.

Thanks. Take care.
