Suggest Treatment For Headaches, Dizziness And Nausea
For the past several weeks, I ve been experiencing headaches, dizziness, nausea, tingling in my hands & fingers & a creeping feeling up the back of my neck to my scalp. I have hypothyroidism that causes me to have heart palpitations & lately they ve been coming more often. I am overweight & have high blood pressure. I have been doing some reading and, based on my symptoms, I think I may have diabetes. I have an appointment in a few days but am nervous it may not be soon enough. Any thoughts?
Hello, Thanks for the query. Some of the symptoms described like tingling in hands and creeping up the back etc are possibly due to peripheral neuropathy, a condition occurring due to diabetes. Dizziness, headaches may be due to a variety of reasons like increased BP or uncontrolled hypothyroidism. If one is on treatment for hypothyroidism then TSH should be maintained between 3 to 4 mU/L, then most of the symptoms are in check. As regards palpitations hypothyroidism rarely causes that. Weight gain also is due to it. My suggestion is to get a complete blood picture work out to check TSH levels, lipid profile and also diabetic profile so that correct treatment can be initiated. If TSH is high then efforts to reduce weight do yeild results. Thanks.
