hello Dr., greetings. i am looking to consult an Ear specialist about my mothers deafness. She is 49 yrs. 5'4" and weight around 70kg.
8 years ago she was able to hear with her both ears, lateron her left ear was not able to hear properly, Dr suggested hearing aids and warned about the cronic deafness as well due to the aid. But from last week she is listening lesser from her right hear as well, plz suggest what I can do to make my mom hear again properly
Dear she may having age related sensoneural deafness, hearing aid need to be worn to stimulate the brain to recognize and process sounds and contrary to some popular myths, proper wearing of hearing aids will not lead to further deterioration of your hearing but help you immensely with daily tasks and leading a sociable life.
So hearing aid if you use properly may won't cause deafness, if she is not able hear with hearing aid may need cochlear implants. Please consult your Ent surgeon he will examine and treat you accordingly.
