Hi,I am Dr. Prabhakar Koregol (Cardiologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have been taking Norvasc but i get swollen ankles and erectile dysfunction. I got so fed up and stopped taking the medication and my pressure sky rokected to 180/110. My doctor gave me plendil 5mg and atacand plus. The norvasc controlled my pressure very well. I want to discuss taking Asomex. I am told the side effect is lower. I am 46yrs and have been on pressure medication for 5 years now. Can you recommend any drug for me?
You can try asomex but practically there is not drastic difference between norvasc and asomex. But yes edema incidence is slightly lower. You can try using it and keep looking for side effects, if no side effects noted you can certainly continue. Atacand plus is also a good medicine to continue with. Have low salt diet and do regular exercises. Take low fat and calorie diet, and avoid smoking if any.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Sagar Makode
