Suggest Treatment For High Mercury And Lead Levels
Hi Dr. Mintz,
My father in law was just tested for mercury and lead (he was in the Navy). He is 79yrs old and is in decent health. His blood test came back with very high levels of Mercury and Lead. What does this mean? What is standard treatment?
Thank you, Tina A concerned daughter in law

Hello, very sad for your father first of all. If I am your treating physician I suggest you to first find out the source from where they ingested this much high amount of mercury and lead. So removal of source is your first treatment. Secondly I want to know what is the level of mercury and lead in the blood? because the further treatment is based on it. you have multiple options for the treatment. You can go for chealating agent like EDTA, dialysis, use of resins, etc but all depends on your level of mercury and lead. thnx from Dr. Arun Tank
