Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am having tightness restricted movement in my hips and groin . I have been seeing physio and I h ave been advised that I have wear tear arthritis in my hip . I have been cycling 36 8 kilometres a week can you confirm is this good for my situation or could you recommend . I am also doing excercises every day and night . I have been attending with my doctor as I feel my right calf is smaller . It has been measured by 2 doctors and it is 1 1/4 smaller . When I try and pull a cramp in my calf the cramp goes into the back of my knee . Iam waiting to see orthopaedic specials asap .
I have studied your case. As per your history there can be hip arthritis which can be degenerative or due to avascular necrosis of femoral head [AVN]. I will advise you do X ray of hip again and you can consult me with reports or with your doctor.
After clinical examination IF AVN is suspected then you will need MRI. Till time take analgesic and cartilage protecting medication like glucosamine sulphate. For hip arthritis joint flexion, extension and rotation exercises will help. Physiotherapist will help you better to learn more exercises in proper protocol.
Diet rich in calcium and protein will help.
Hope this answers your query. If you have additional questions or follow up queries then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your queries.
Wishing you good health.
Take care
