Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I moved 2 1/2 months ago (I sorted thru clothes and over the course of 2 weeks bagged up 12 bags of shoes and clothes...and hurt my back) and every since then have had horrible pain that is in my lower back when I stand for over 20 minutes and travels to the front of my hip area. I went to an orthopedics dr and had an MRI. The MRI supposedly showed bulging dics and mild hip arthritis. I was told to get a steroid epidural injection in my back.
A couple of questions.....a is that the best I can do for this pain and b the clinic where they were going to send me for pain management was going to put me totally under....is that normal for a steroid epidural injection? I did some research and from what Ive read you don't have to be put totally under. Most use just local anesthetic. And will it mend on its own? I don't want to be in pain management for years. Seems like a lot for bulging discs from moving. Thanks
Hello Thanks for your query After going through your query I came to know that you are probably suffering from lumbar disc prolapse. Its primary treatment is rest in position of relief(generally lateral position with both knee bend),neurotopics such as mecobalamin and analgesics (Diclofenac three times a day after meals is effective). Sometimes strong analgesic(such as tramadol three times a day after meals) is required. Omeperazole before meals prevent acidity caused by analgesics .For hip arthritis in addition Diacerine and glucosamine is helpful. You can discuss with your Doctor about it.
