Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have what seems to be Uticaria/hives in the groin area and I'm not sure what is causing it. Apart from my regular diet, I've been using quite a bit of honey in my tea and had a few grapefruits lately. Could it be sweets or acidic foods? I remember having these sometime ago on the side of my legs and on the buttocks after drinking sodas.
The symptoms as mentioned in your post suggest that you might be having fungal infection (Tinea) in the groin region.
Management includes: 1. Keeping the area dry & avoid too much exposure to water or sweat formation. 2. Antihistamine preparations like cetirizine to reduce the itching sensation & provide symptomatic relief. 3. Application of topical antifungal cream like Clotrimazole to tackle the causative organism.
If symptoms still persist or aggravate further, then it will be better to consult a Dermatologist & get a proper examination done to find out the actual cause. So that appropriate management steps could be taken.
Also avoid wearing tight undergarments & trousers...as it will cause sweating & predispose to fungal infections. Wishing you a Good Health. Take care
