Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi I went in for an EGD to look at my narrow esophagus the camera ruptured a hole in my esophagus. It released air into my chest cavity but after a few days in the hospital the air was absorbed by my body and theven hole healed . It has been about a month and I was wondering if it is OK to be around steam vapor or smoke or safe to smoke at all?
The condition was due to iatrogenic injury to esophagus and as it has healed completely, you can take steam vapor without any problems. So far as smoking is concerned, you can go ahead for the same, keeping in mind the pros and cons of the smoking injuries to lungs and various body systems health corner.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Thank you. Take care.
Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
