I am very prone to getting severe cold sores around my lips and below my nose area for years. However, what bothers me is after the sores have dried up and it starts scabbing. It leaves my skin with a white or pinkish scar and i dont get my colour pigments back. Could you help me. I know there is something there that could help me, i think my condition is called hypopigmentation. Please help. Thank you so much

Yes, you are right. The condition is known as hypopigmentation and it is post-inflammatory i.e secondary to an inflammatory insult to the skin; in this case herpes/cold sores. The color usually returns by itself in a few days. However, repigmentation can be hastened by using a topical immunomodulator e.g tacrolimus or pimecrlimus ointment, twice daily. These are prescription products and therefore I suggest you to talk to your doctor for the needful.
