Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
In 2012 I went into the hospital with perferated diverticulitis, had to have a colostomy bag..2 weeks into hospital stay had to move colostomy bag due to getting infection due to poor placement of drain and fitting of colostomy bag to body. 2nd major surgery in under a month. Then i had another surgery to take down colostomy and put bowels back together. All of this resulting in a incisional hernia. Had the hernia fixed with abdomal mesh but it failed. Now i have a huge incisional hernia and wear a binder. I know i need surgery but what is the best route to go. Please help!! Im a father of 3 boys under 12 and need the best.
Incisional hernia occurs due to weakening of abdominal wall usually due to prior surgery or prior procedure. Incisional hernia is managed by surgical correction and placement of mesh. I suggest you to consult your surgeon for clinical assessment and thus management.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
