Suggest Treatment For Infected Ingrown Hair On Lower Buttocks
Around August of last year I noticed that I had an infected ingrown hair on my butt cheek (inside of the cheek) and in October it popped (I fell on my butt hard). Currently it is 5-6cm open wound with a skin bridge. Should I get stitches or wait? What should I do?
Understanding your concern. As per your query your have symptoms of infected ingrown hair on lower buttocks which occurs when a pore in your skin gets clogged, usually with debris, bacteria and dead skin cells and causing area to be red and swollen. It could be due to bacterial infection as well. I would suggest you to exfoliate gently once or twice a day with a salicylic acid-based exfoliant. Maintain complete hygiene. Apply topical antibacterial ointment such as 2 % mucopren on it. If condition doesn't improve in a week then consult dermatologist for proper diagnosis. Doctor may prescribe chemical peeling and laser therapy.
Hope your concern has been resolved.

Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
