Suggest Treatment For Infection After Tooth Extraction

I had a molar pulled last Tuesday and was shocked Iwasnt stitched up leaving infection in a dry socket. I went to emergency today to get antibiotic and pain meds...why did the dentist excuse me without antibiotic or even stitching me up... The cost to my visit was 650.00...Should i go back and let the dentist know what a danger he put me in as well as a week of unbarable pain?t

Hi..
Thanks for the query.

Well, if the extraction is not done surgically and if the gums around extraction socket are not too much damaged then generally stitches are not given..

Secondly dry socket occurs due to loss of blood clot that is responsible to initiate and proceed healing of the extraction socket..

So in case if there is dry socket formation then taking antibiotics alone will not help rather you need to consult your dentist and get evaluated..
For dry socket he has to place a sedative medicated dressing in the extraction socket that will reduce pain as well as initiate healing..
It has to be changes every alternate day till the healing occurs considerably..

Hope this helps..

Regards..
