Suggest Treatment For Irritating Cough With Severe Headache?

Hi
I have an irretating cough. Have had it for 3 days now.
Two days ago when I coughed, it felt like my head was exploding. Ever since, I have this headache that won't go away.
I've tried Advil liqui-gels, but the pain is constant. Could I have coughed too hard and hurt myself?

Hi and thanks for the query,
It might be necessary to check if the cough is really related to the headache. Date of onset, presence or absence of fever could be needed to rule out pneumonia. Managing the cough appropriately with cough syrups (carbocysteine) or antibiotics if need be could help really coughing frequency and intensity, and thus reduce headaches.

Hello
Severe cough increases blood pressure hence there develops pain in the head.
Since you are having cough 3 days ( severe bouts ) so this type of cough may be due to .
1 AALERGY ,in this patient usually develops whistling sound , running nose , dry cough , laborious breathing. Usually dust , mite , pollen , hay fine dusting powder are usually predisposing factors . When such patient visit in my clinic I advise them to take monteleukast+bambuterol tablets once or twice in day. Since this is a prescription drug so consult a physician and get his opinion .
2 Acute bronchitis may be the next reason , so it require some antibiotics with allergic drugs and a cough syrup ( usually dextromethorphan+ chalorpheniramione maleate ) .
3 Flu or common cold may be the next reason of such cough . Deal as mentioned above.
Good luck.
