Suggest Treatment For Knee Pain

I started running a few months ago and all of a sudden I have started to experience some outside knee pain. It's on the outside but I don't even know if you can call it knee pain since it is a good 3-6 inches below the knee on the outside. Feels like the top of the bone on the fibula is getting sore. after a day or two the pain resides. I just got an IT band thinking that was the cause but it seems a lot lower then the IT band goes but I could be wrong. I have been going anywhere between 7-10 miles. I did 10 miles and it hurt but I made it through. But, last week I could only go 5.5 miles before I couldn't run any longer. that was saturday and I have been stretching, icing, and using NSAID. It feels good again but I won't know until I run again SAturday. I have been biking most of the week with no pain so far.
