Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi I have a lisfranc injury happened 14 weeks ago just confirmed injury this week with consultant. He said this it is mild but would require surgery, I believe it is the ligament. He said that if we do it now he could use 2 screws after scraping the bone or if I wait 3 or 4 weeks he would have to fuse the bone. What should I do and what is the difference i.e. the long term outcome. Would a few weeks make so much difference. Thanks Anna
Hello Anna, Lisfrank injury is dislocation of foot bones and it is not a soft tissue injury. It needs to be tackle as soon as possible. And your doctor is right in thinking that it may need screws fixation. So I would suggest you to go for this surgery as soon as possible. Delaying this make this problem more problematic. I hope this answer will be very useful for you.Let me know if there is any other followup questions. thanks
