Suggest Treatment For Lower Back Pain That Radiates To The Right Leg
Hi Dr., I have lower back pain with the pain radiating down my right leg and occasionally slight numbness on the bottom of right foot. I have had the lower back pain off and on for several years but the burning pain in leg for the past three months. Over the counter meds do help some but lately the pain keeps me awake at night. I am 58 and walk every day for 30min. Thank you Susan
Hi Thanks for posting on HCM Lower back pain radiating to legs may be caused by osteoarthritis, sciatica, herniated disc...No matter the cause, treatment options are almost the same.Possible treatment options may include: different line of pain drugs depending on pain intensity, myorelaxants, steroid shots occasionally, physiotherapy and surgery.I will suggest you see a Rheumatologist for evaluation, management and follow-up.In the meantime, you may try the following: -A pain drug like aceclofenac -Myorelaxant like miorel -Rest well Your Doctor will take care of the rest and if need be, the opinions of a Neurosurgeon and a Physiotherapist may be sorted Hope this will help Best regards
