Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Suggest Treatment For Lower Left Abdominal Pain, Cold Sweats And Nausea Sensation?
I woke up with pain at my lower left abdomen. I went to the bathroom and found that I released some air and passed motion too. During which, I broke into cold sweats and had nausea sensation (feel like vomiting) but it s just that. After I m done in the bathroom, I went back to bed, the lower left abdominal pain is not as bad as before the pain is still there. What should I do? It happened half hour ago.
Good evening, I'm sorry you are not feeling so well. I have a few suggestions based upon my experience. First and foremost I will say, that if the pain worsens and or continues for some few hours, and or is accompanied by any rectal blood, stool blood or darkening and or vomit based bleeding, I would present to the emergency department immediately. Otherwise, your symptoms may represent mild infection, partial constipation, temporary obstruction and or dehydration, along with some few many other possible explanations. I would have to know more about your physical exam findings, and the history behind your medical background and of this particular episode to make a definitive diagnosis. The demographics of age, diet and lifestyle make some individuals more predisposed to some conditions, and or symptoms than others. As such I would require a full workup with blood-work and potential imaging to give you a proper ultimate conclusion. Nonetheless as this may not yet be necessary I suggest you follow and record your course of symptoms. Continue to hydrate, try to catch some rest and in the morning if the discomfort remains, perhaps make an appointment with your primary care physician. Also if symptoms worsen and or you present with the specific complaints I mentioned above; contact emergency services. I wish you the best and a strong recovery and return to comfort!
