Suggest Treatment For Maxillary Retention Cyst Seen On MRI

Iam Kui,32years.I have been having this headaches that made me check my BPS and it was noted to be high.Bloodworks did not reveal any reason for the high bps but am now on antihypertensive.Ialso had an MRI which read: Non-specific T2/FLAIR white matter hyperintensities noted in the right frontal lobe.Grey white matter differentiatin is preserved. No evidence of acute infarction ,intracranial haemorrhage or space Occupying lesion is seen.Brainstem and Cerebellum are normal.Left Maxillary fluid seen sugesting a retention cyst. mpression:Acute left maxillary retention cyst. My ENT doctor looked at the mri films and said that it is more of an air filled cyst than fluid. What would be the best way forward?Do you think there could be treatment beside surgery?

Hi,

If you are having any nose symptoms, then take Fluticasone nasal spray 2 puff twice daily for 3 weeks. Take antiallergic tablet Levocetirizine at bedtime for 3 weeks. Take steam inhalation through the nose.

If nasal symptoms are not much, then you take this medicine. If the symptoms are much more, then you can have surgery limited FESS. This is a small Endoscopic surgery to clear the Maxillary sinus.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Rajat Basak
