Suggest Treatment For Nerve Pain And Severe Ache In Left Ear With No History Of Infection

I went to a urgent care clinic because I had nerve pain and severe aching pain in my left ear. When the PA looked in it was not infected. The pain went down my eustachian tube. When I lie down on either side I feel pain. I push up my cheek and get relief. However the PA placed me on sreiods and really increased chest discomfort but relieved ear nerve ache. However I had to stop steroids after two days due to chest discomfort. However ear pain still aching? As a navy corpsman. I have no knowledge on what to do next. Do you have any suggestions?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The pain you are feeling in your left ear could be due to 2 main reasons:
- tempomandibular joint arthritis or any other problem
- bad teeth.

I think should run X-ray of temporomandibular joint plus check your teeth by a dentist.

With regards to chest discomfort, please check your blood pressure and follow up with a cardiologist.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Albana Sejdini, General & Family Physician
