Suggest Treatment For Numbness Due To Muscle Pull In Knee

Ive been constipated for many years do to opiates and I gained 120 pds this year so it seems to be worse than b4 but I feel that I have no help from any of my muscles , its like they don t work.Ive taken everything the docs can offer for constipation I usually am in the restroom a hour at a time 2 or 3 times a day and I dontr usually get anything out. the other day I was maneuvering my body so I could use the seat to help push it out and when I was done I fell and my left lower back and my left lower groin area where the leg meets the stomach hurts really bad but than my left knee is killing me its got a numbness feeling about from the top of the cap to about 4 inches below the knee that just started to day but the pain started the same day as the back & groin started. it hurts so bad I cant walk on it at all and when I sit I have to find a position that I can tolerate. I went to the er but they took no xrays no blood no nothing and told me it was a pulled muscle , than why is it numb and why cant I walk on it at all also its real red

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

The presence of redness indicates underlying inflammation of the tissue as muscle or ligament, which can present with pain, numbness through compression of underlying nerves via edema. My guidelines at present:
- Local application of heating pad
- Analgesic spray or ointment over knee
- Analgesic and anti inflammatory medications
- Proper care for postural adaptations and avoidance of painful postures
- Prescription antibiotics to prevent secondary bacterial infection

Regular follow up with your doc for progressive evaluation and further guidelines in terms of need of X-ray or MRI.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
