Suggest Treatment For Numbness In The Thumb

hi there, I m just writing about numbness in my right thumb. I have my right hand in a cast from a fractured 4th metacarpal bone. I had the new cast on for 5 days with no problems. I woke up in the morning and felt like i had slept weird with my thumb, like the back of my thumb had been pressed onto a hard part of my cast. It started feeling numb and is now the third day. It feels numb on the left side from the first knuckle to the second knuckle. The cast is scheduled to come off next friday 09/09. I feel as i could of just damaged my nerve a little. Is this ok or should I go to the doctor?
