I have numbness in toes, feeling of extra padding at ball of feet, feet always cold. Discovered two weeks ago Second toe black scab on side next to big toe that is red. Have had blood test ruling out diabetes. Ruled out at end of January. Family doctor hasn t advised next step. What do you seggest?
Hello and welcome to HCM, Numbness of feet can occur due to diabetes mellitus, vitamin B 12 deficiency or some other neurological disorder. Since, diabetes mellitus is ruled out, I suggest you to get blood levels of vitamin B 12 and complete hemogram. In case vitamin B 12 level is low, please consult your physician for clinical assessment and prescription of vitamin B 12 supplements or injections, whatever suitable.
Thanks and take care Dr Shailja Puri
