Suggest Treatment For Obsessive–compulsive Disorder

I have this weird thing, when I wash my hands or shower and then dry them my hands get really dry . I can t touch anything for hours sometimes and I have to use a lot of lotion to help get the feeling to normal. The best way to describe this feeling is like nails on a chalkboard. I walk around my my hands bald in a fist. I have had this issue since I was a kid and am now 28. I thought I was the only one with this and felt kinda alone but I have found others online that have this exact same thing. Please help.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

You seem to have an obsessive compulsive disorder as mentioned by you yourself. There are 2 primary treatment modalities available for it, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and medication. I would advise you to visit a psychiatrist and start CBT which is very helpful and I prefer it over medication.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Anoop Kumar, General & Family Physician
