Suggest Treatment For Pain In The Knee And Ankle After A Fall

I am not sure, but I fell from a ladder only the last two step. I felt a very bad pain on my right leg like from the knee down. I was able to get up and come inside. the next day I went to urgent care , x-rays were taken Dr. said I didn t break a bone. Its been a little over a week and it does better, but it still hurts. Now I am waiting to see if my Dr. will set up an MRI. What do you think?

Hi,

If you are feeling better than before and not worse, you can wait for a few days before going for an MRI. As you fell down, your muscles, bones and ligaments have experienced shock and trauma and they do need some time to heal. As you have not broken any bone, there is no emergency to rush for MRI.

You can take Dan-MR or Hifenac-MR (Paracetamol 325 mg + Diclofenac Sodium 50 mg + Chlorzoxazone 250 mg) twice a day for 5 days. It will relax your muscles as well as will give analgesic effect. You can apply Diclofenac topical gel (Volini) to the injured area. Give some rest to the leg whenever possible.

If you find no relief in 5 days, then it is advisable to go for an MRI to find the exact injured structure. I hope this information helps. Thank you for choosing HealthCareMagic. I wish you feel pain-free soon.

Best,
Dr. Viraj Shah
