Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I woke up three days ago with a pain in my left wrist and hand. It feels like a crick you get in your neck, but it s in my wrist. I can t put weight on in and I can t hold things comfortably. The pain is worse in the morning but it lasts all day. It s most painful when I put my fingers together where they are pointing outward (my thumb touching my pinky, etc). I also have pain if i press on each side of my wrist or rub the back of my hand.
The symptoms seem to be related to a pinched nerve in the wrist. I suggest using anti-inflammatory medications such as Acetaminophen to relieve the pain.
I also suggest using a brace to prevent further damage to the nerve. Cold compresses can also be helpful.
If the symptoms continue, you should see a neurologist for further evaluation.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
