Suggest Treatment For Pain, Swelling And Numbness On Knee

I sprained my knee awhile back and I didn t take care of it properly and every once in awhile it hurts if I work too much on it. And so I recently pushed the limits of my knee and now it hurts and it pops, has a ping of pain, swelling and numbness. It hurts to walk on it. What can I do to treat this?

Thank you for asking Healthcare majic.
My name is Dr Ehsan Ullah &
I have gone through your query.

you have mentioned about knee sprained which you didn't care properly n timely,

now
it has pain , swelling and numbness
along with walking difficulty

knee joint is quite complex and has important nerves and vessels located in it specially on the back side of the joint.

The swelling occurs when there is damage to the tissues in the knee so this swelling can be just an inflammatory swelling as a result of tissue response to trauma or it can be a collection of fluids resulting from the damage to the structures e.g vessels

while
Numbness occurs when there is damage to the nerve or there is some vascular compromise

for the pain relief , you can use ibuprofen 400

(The recommended dosage of Brufen is 1200-1800 mg daily in divided doses)

Rest and application of knee brace will reduce the swelling

meanwhile

you will have to visit your physician for some work up to role out cause of this swelling and numbness in the form of radioghaphs, ultrasonography and nerve conduction study after detailed history and clinical assessment.

Hope this may help you. Let me know if anything not clear.
Thanks.
