Suggest Treatment For Painful Joints, Nausea And Sinus Infection

Hi Doctor. My son-in-law has continuing sinus infections and flu-like symptoms. Cold aching bones and feelings of nausea. He is to have surgery for a deviated septum and blocked sinuses on both sides. He suffers asthma and hay fever. Has been given many courses of antibiotics which seem to improve things until he stops taking the medications. My question is could it possible be fibromyalgia.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

* As per my clinical experience, the recurrent sinus infection, painful joints do indicate grave underlying disorder with various possibilities but fibromyalgia is less likely.

- immune suppresion
- immune deficiency states as disorders of B and or or T cell functioning
- chronic steroid use ( as for asthma )
- drug resistant bacterial infections
- issues of complement pathway
- others

However, if any of the previous work up is available, I would like to review the same for my reference and guide further accordingly.

Hope I have answered your queries. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel
