Suggest Treatment For Paralyzed Vocal Cord

I am looking for an ENT doctor to repair my paralyzed left vocal cord. The nerve was damage during a intubation procedure and I have not been able to speak normally since. I have heard of a procedure where silicone is injected adjacent to the paralyzed vocal cord so that it is moved closer to the right vocal cord and speech is greatly improved. However, this is usually a temporary fix and last for a year or so. I am in the Canton, MI area and am on Medicare. Thank you.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi.
Thanks for your query.
Noted that your have paralyzed left vocal cord.

I would advise you the following:
Yes, silicon injection works but as you say for few years.
Now we have a procedure where the position of hte vocal cord can be adjusted by the surgery called thyroplasty with almost permanent results and training of the speech can help you to have a better voice.
Consult an ENT who does Thyroplasty and then consult a speech therapist to have still the best results.
Wishing you all the best
