Hi,I am Dr. Alexander H. Sheppe (Psychiatrist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hello,I am currently in a relationship with a person who I believe has paranoid schizophrenia.Weve been together 6 yrs.She has told me of the voices and what I believe to be as hallucinations. She thinks demon's are responsible as she has recently takin up reading the bible and buying books to combat these demon's.As Im not a believer in God...how do I approach her on seeking professional medical help? She has most of the classic symptom's which appear to be worsening. She has no close friends I can talk to and she lives away from her family. The more I read the more I become concerned. She is very guarded and not one to talk about her feelings.
I went through your details. I suggest you not to worry much. The problem cannot be graded as paranoid schizophrenia at least for the time being. The symptoms do point out the existence of hallucinations. religious inclination and high order worships do make people a bit persuasive in religious sentiments. that cannot mean they have psychoses. Do take your friend to a psychologist / psychotherapist for detailed consultation and psychometric tests if required. After proper diagnosis, we can treat him further.
Otherwise, Please post a direct question to me in this website. Make sure that you include every minute details possible. I shall prescribe some psychotherapy techniques which should help your friend cure his condition.
Hope this answers your query. Available for further clarifications. Good luck.
