Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am looking for the second opinion. I had hemorrhoidectomy about 2 years ago; then one year later I had second surgery to remove residual tissue (scar tissue) which left over. In March I developed perirectal abscess with lead later to a perirectal fistula. In June my surgeon place drain and later in July perform "flap" surgery. The surgery fail (MRI done) fistula drain again. On December 20 I had another surgery (placement drain) again. My surgeon stated he is going to perform another surgery in 1-2 month with placing "pig tissue" to fix the fistula. I would like to have another opinion about my case.
1) You might have developed "high" type anal fistula which is might require multiple surgeries.
2) In this type of fistula, inner end of fistula opens very deep in anal canal due to which excessive cutting would not be possible to avoid damage to anal canal.
3) Multiple surgeries, regular dressing and prevention of infection is mainstay of treatment for high-type fistula.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Happykumar Kagathara
