Suggest Treatment For Persistent Cough, Stinging Chest And Sinus Infection

I ve been sick since November with a cold. First I ended up with a sinus infection, was treated with antibiotic. Just before Christmas, I felt like the sinus infection came back. This time my doctor put me on Levofloxacin 500mg 1xdaily. I am not better. I feel like I m getting pneumonia. I had an albuterol sulfate inhaler leftover from another time I d had such problems. Started using it to open up airway. I ve been using Mucinex with cough suppressant. My coughing spasms are so severe that my chest starts stinging and burning. One time it went through to my back with the wide-spread stinging. Felt like I was going to die. Is this serious enough to go to ER? Can anything help?

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain the symptoms of severe cough along with stinging in chest and sinus infection can be due to causes like Chronic upper respiratory tract infection, bronchitis, lung infection, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease etc..
I would suggest you to consult a Pulmonologist and get evaluated and he can do a clinical evaluation and also advise you sputum culture, PNS View x Ray of sinuses and chest x ray to rule out the exact cause of the symptoms and treat accordingly..
He can advise you to take antibiotics, anti inflammatory painkiller, mucolytics, cough suppressant, anti allergics, steam inhalation and warm saline gargles..
Avoid spicy, chilled and citrus foods..
Sip on warm water throughout the day.

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
