Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have had sleep problems for 10 years. The act of falling asleep, staying asleep or sleeping soundly without exaustingly vivid dreams completely eludes me. I ve tried Seroquel and now Ambien (which seems less effective). They help me falll asleep, but I wake up by 4am and toss and turn for hours, almost the same as when I m suffering from a fever. I am also so jolted when awaken while I actually do sleep I gasp for breath. Any information or guidance on relieving these symptoms would be greatly apppreciated. Thank you. Laura
Hi, Thanks for posting in HCM. I understand your concern. Having sleep problems for such a long period of 10 years definitely requires psychotherapy and evaluation for any organic illness. You need to be investigated by means of CT scan of brain for that. Practice of meditation regularly would keep your mind calm and healthy. Kindly consult Psychiatrist and Neurologist for evaluation and management. Hope the information provided would be helpful. All the best.
