Suggest Treatment For Persistent Swelling In Ankle Post Injury
Daughter injured her foot ankle...no break or fracture. Checked with Mir and no negative results. 9 weeks ago still having problems foot swells and turns a light shad of purple. She is in a walking boot. Not tight. She takes it off. Great health, competitive swimmer. 13 years old. What is wrong?
Hi Thanks for posting on HCM Ankle pain after after an injury may be caused by strain or stress on muscle/bone.MRI may show nothing if no fracture or soft tissue damage like muscle tear.Any stress/strain on the leg may trigger pain and may cause swelling.Since no fracture or soft tissue injury visible on MRI you may see the Doctor to stop the usage of boot and try pain drugs like ibuprofen, local pain gel like voltarene and light support with bandage as the weight of the boot may also contribute to present symptoms. Hope this will help Best regards
