Hello,

I have gone through the medical history of your father and understood your concerns.

Your father is suffering from severe vomiting because of an intestine infection. Most common infectious agents that cause excessive nausea and vomiting are viral gastroenteritis and rotavirus. Initial symptoms of rotavirus is vomiting and fever than a three to seven days of following diarrhea is experienced.
Usually the rotavirus infection resolves within a week and there is no antibiotic or antiviral treatment for rotavirus.

Anti-diarrhea medications are not recommended. The treatment is symptomatic and it is easy self-resolved.

If it is because of gastroenteritis the symptoms may last 10 days and range from mild to severe. Viral infection needs conservative treatment to resolve the infection.

I would advice to do a bacteriological exam of the intestinal fluids may be a culture would be perfect to determine if there is any bacterial infection. In the case of bacterial infection confirmed doctor will give antibiotics as well.

During the recovery time, symptoms should be regularly watched until resolve. If no betterment within 5 days or do not disappear after 10 days the situation must be reevaluated and extra tests are needed.

Keep him well hydrated: give water with ORS; if cannot keep and throw up everything, intravenous perfusions are recommended.

Tasectan or caoline are recommended to ease the diarrhea symptoms. Probiotics to stabilize intestinal flora.

Hope it was helpful.
